My Wild, Wonderful, Weekend

I went to a wonderful party Saturday night. It was a Masquerade. Guests wore elaborate fabulous masks and costumes, sometimes over hijabs, or veils. The weather was perfect. Cool with no wind. I was wearing four dresses a head wrap and two masks. It was hard to see, but very cozy.

The party was in honor of an extraordinary young artist: Baraka Blue. A Sufi poet of great purity and talent, he is also a street smart rapper who can hold down a beat.
With the greatest respect I say "His Swag is Light". His new album Sound Heart, brilliantly produced by Anas Canon, takes 'muslim hip-hop' to the next level.

I performed with several other artists, all impressive. I read three poems and felt the love. I brought a peloton of fairygoddaughters, and their dazzling associates. We held down the beat and danced all night long. With Anas DJ-ing, there was no alternative.

Tracy and Anas, who together are Remarkable Current records know how to throw a great party. Fun was had by all and love was unconditional and flowing like the chocolate fountain. There was a Morocco room and a hookah nook. It was, in short, off the hook.

For Forty days and Forty Nights "Sound Heart" is available on REMARKABLECURRENT.COM for FREE. Highly recommended. Stands up to Damian and Nas' Distant Relatives: Go there!

Or, Go dere! Friday night I went retrograde into the glory days of Jamaican reggae. Franklyn "Bubbler" Waul the seminal keyboardist and Taxi Gang member was in town with Sly and Robbie.
We missed connections, even though they were playing two of my favorite venues, I didn't know.
With my early to bed, early to rise program, I miss a lot. Anyway, we FINALLY linked for a blast into the past. Cutting edge, and a member of Bob Marley's band since his teens, Bubbler is a consummate professional. He has had faith in me as a musician since day one. It was with great joy that I was able to create a listening session with so much of my new music. He has had five kids since we last met, I've had thirty songs. He loves my new productions. I love that he's got the big family under one roof and enjoys being pater familias. Bubbler's talent for music is unexcelled, as is his talent for friendship. One Love, Bubbler!
