Man/ House Get Second Chance

Early today I was driving up my street. I stopped to admire the extensive landscaping the new owners had done on the house next door. For years, a lady lived there who was so disruptive, the neighborhood started to organize to look for solutions. At the first meeting was a trial attorney. A brusque, angry, confrontational guy, you would definately not want to have him oppose you in court. Sometime after that I heard he'd had a freak accident on the Pixie Trail nearby. His dog had pulled him down a ravine. His injuries were extensive, he seemed almost infantile, He could barely walk or speak. His wife would lovingly bring the dog with them as he shuffled slowly up the hill. Today I saw the dog with no leash, and then the man. I pulled over in front of the house which had been condemned, resold, and re-landscaped. I said, "It's good to see you." But I was seeing a sweet, friendly, gentleman, not the tough guy of five years ago. Of the house I said, "It looks so beautful, it's almost like a dream." He smiled and agreed "Everything is great." Both man and house got a new lease on life. And it seems like both could simply not be happier.
